In a quiet riverside, the innocent mole Mole leaves his home with a desire to explore the world and meets the kind water rat Ratty, who teaches him the ways of life on the river. However, the boastful and troublesome toad Mr. Toad becomes obsessed with automobiles and starts causing trouble. The wise badger Badger and his friends try to set him straight. Through various challenges and adventures, the four friends support each other, grow together, and share a warm and lasting friendship.

Kenneth Grahame was born in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his relatives, spending much of his time in nature, where he grew to love rivers and forests. Although he aspired to become a writer, financial circumstances led him to work as a civil servant at The Bank of England, where he began writing in his spare time.
In the 1890s, he gained literary recognition by publishing short stories, and in 1908, he became a master of children's literature with the publication of 『The Wind in the Willows』. This book originated from stories he told his son and beautifully portrays the value of friendship and the beauty of nature through the adventures of anthropomorphized animals.
